Controlling Weeds

Weeds…not happy plants within the landscape industry…
Weeds are plants growing in the wrong places and come from a variety of sources. A huge part of landscape maintenance is weed control. To maintain a healthy landscape, proper watering, mowing, fertilizing, aerating, and dethatching is essential. Before weeds go to seed, hand pulling them can be successful. If the weed is the type that is spread by roots, the root needs to be removed during the hand pull to prevent spreading. A lot of weeds are seed-producing. These need to be mowed prior to seed formation to prevent their spreading. For already seed producing weeds, take care with lawn clippings as the seeds can easily spread back into the ground. Using herbicides are another option, but be sure your landscape professional applies the application.
